Why our natural approach to fertility works

We awaken your body's natural healing system

Despite what you may have been told, or you believe, your body never forgets how to heal.  In fact, symptoms are a sign of the body doing it’s best to thrive in times of physiological stress.  With the right support, your body is able to heal itself so symptoms go away and conception becomes easier.

We keep it simple

Your body loves simplicity.  Simple routines, simple foods, simple habits.  This is what helps you thrive.  When you give proper support to your cells, glands, and tissues, they make their own medicine and are able to restore healthy function.  We understand the body’s need for simplicity.  Because of this, we have developed simple, specific diet and lifestyle programs along with effective therapies aimed at resolving the roadblocks preventing you from getting pregnant.

We address the root cause

Rather than breaking the body into parts and treating each separately, we treat the body as a whole.  Just one symptom is an indication the body isn’t functioning properly.  We determine the root cause as to why you're not getting pregnant, and restore the body back to balance.  By doing so, conception becomes easier, and pregnancy is an enjoyable experience.

Here is how our unique approach to addressing fertility challenges works to get you feeling your best.

Root cause analysis

We detect subtle factors that are affecting your ability to conceive.

We develop an easy to follow plan

Next, we lay-out a clear, specific to you plan to address the factors affecting your fertility.  The plan will also address other symptoms that you may not think are affecting your ability to conceive including, stress, sleep habits, diet and lifestyle and emotional health.  Your plan may include one of more of the following therapies: acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, targeted nutritional supplements and diet and lifestyle modifications.

Circulation-improving acupuncture

We will use regular acupuncture treatments  to increase circulation to the uterus, ovaries and glands in the brain that produce hormones critical for fertility.

Set the framework for a healthy pregnancy

Ensure the first trimester of your pregnancy is smooth and stable to set the stage for a healthy, full-term pregnancy.

Our Simple Process

Our process is easy to follow.  Below is a step-by-step guide to patient success in our clinic.

  Initial Consultation

The first step on your journey to better health at our office.  This appointment is approximately fifteen minutes.   At your initial consultation, we discuss your case and your goals for treatment at the clinic.  This visit is to ensure that your questions are answered and that we have all the information needed to move forward.  We want to ensure that our program will meet all your needs and that you will have a high probability of success, before we move forward to the initial intake appointment.

In-depth intake and initial treatment plan

This appointment is scheduled for approximately 75 minutes.  At this visit, we dive deeper in to your case.  An in-depth current and past health history is taken . We assess your symptoms pattern and work to identify the root-cause of your health concerns using Chinese medicine principles. We then devise a customized plan based on your unique pattern of symptoms to address the root cause of your health concerns.

Initial treatment phase and symptom relief

Regular visits to the clinic (acupuncture treatment frequency is determined at your initial intake appointment) to address the symptoms affecting your ability to conceive.  This phase can last 2-6 months depending on your unique case.  These visits allow for continued work on your treatment goals and will yield benefits including:

  • Decreased stress

  • Better sleep

  • Improved energy

  • Less PMS

  • Healthier, more balanced menstrual cycles

  • Improved ovulatory function

Visits to the office will always include acupuncture, as well as added treatment modalities, if necessary.

Questions and answers about our fertility program

Does Acupuncture Hurt?

Acupuncture needles, are solid and very thin.  They are about the diameter of a hair on your head.  Typically, little to nothing is felt when the needles are inserted.  Areas of the body that aren't particularly "fleshy" including, hands and feet, can sometimes be felt initially a bit more.  This isn't always the case though.

Do my treatments take up a lot of time?

Most of our patients are able to get great results coming in to the office 1-2 times a week, initially.  Follow-up visits last a maximum of one hour.

How long will it take to see results?

Each patient is different, but most notice a positive change in just a few treatments.  Each body is unique, with it's own specific set of symptoms.  If you have had the symptoms that are an indication of fertility issues for a long time, it can sometimes take a bit longer to see changes, but this is not common.

Are there any side effects with acupuncture?

Generally, no, there are no side effects.  Occasional, mild bruising can occur, although this doesn't happen often.  There are, however, many positive effects including better sleep, lower response to stressors, and a more positive attitude and outlook.

Is this going to cost me a lot of money?

To make our programs more affordable to patients, we do offer pre-paid treatment plans at a discount.

What if I can't come as often as you recommend?

Follow-up visits last 45 minutes to an hour.  Typically patients can make it work with their schedule.  We know you are busy, so we try and ensure sessions start and end on time.  Patients who initially come more frequently see faster results.

Stephanie Braunwarth

Founder and owner of Waconia Women's Health

I'm Stephanie. I was born and raised in Devils Lake, North Dakota, the oldest of four kids. When I was in high school, I started to become interested in health and wellness and decided I wanted to go in to holistic health-care as a career.

During my college years, I developed some health issues that I feel made me understand the struggle some of my patients are going through. After several infections and a failed surgery, I had to have a kidney removed at the age of 20. My doctor was impressed by the speed of my healing and how quickly I was able to go off of the pain medications he prescribed after surgery. He agreed it was because of my healthy lifestyle.

Fast-forward 2 years and I began acupuncture and Chinese Medicine School at The Minnesota College of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, where I graduated in 2010.

I credit Chinese Medicine for keeping me healthy and complication-free all these years after my surgeries.

I have a passion for helping couples have healthy babies. I also love helping women from the start of menstruation to menopause. By working together, we reduce symptoms that are a regular disruption in their life that is preventing them from living a full, happy life.

I have an amazing 3 year old son named Bode and a supportive husband named Jedd. When I'm not at the clinic seeing patients, I love to cook, travel, be active and spend time with family.

Carol Minger, L.Ac.

Associate clinician

Hello, I’m Carol. I grew up in a small town on a big lake in Northern Michigan. I was born to a wonderful nurse as a mother, and a civil engineer father, which bestowed me with a strong interest in health, medicine and analytical thinking. This led me to pursue studies in Biopsychology and Cognitive Science at the University of Michigan, where most of my peers were pre-med. Although I seriously considered following the same path, it didn’t quite sit right with me. While I was a sophomore there, my 15 year old brother passed away, and that forever changed my outlook on life. After that, my only goal was to be happy and healthy, and that led to years of travel, volunteering at a holistic retreat center, 4 years skiing in Utah, and constantly exploring self-care techniques. I delved into yoga; meditation, Kundalini yoga; nutrition; herbs; chiropractic; lots of time in nature; ayurveda; naturopathy; psychology; craniosacral therapy; and countless books. When this path eventually led to acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine, I knew I had found my calling. A powerful, yet gentle, system of medicine that seeks out the root cause of a person’s condition, and aims to restore optimal health and balance.

Through a combination of acupuncture, herbs, and diet therapy, this medicine has personally helped get symptoms of anxiety, TMJ syndrome, and PMS under control. I am particularly passionate about helping people with emotional health (stress, anxiety, and depression), menstrual and hormonal health, and rejuvenating cosmetic treatments.
